Beauxbatons Academy of Magic | Rewind
Name: Beauxbatons (Pronunciation: "Bo-bat-on") which is French for "beautiful sticks". The word "batons" is probably a reference to a wand. The literal translation would be "baguette magique", which would be a bit confusing for native English speakers with the french bread, so it is logical that J.K. Rowling didn't use that option.Headmistress: Madame Olympe Maxime
Location: France, most likely in the South as Bouillabaise is mostly served in the southeast of France. Also Hagrid mentioned that the school is further south than Dijon.
Uniforms: Robes of fine silk, attendants of the carriage wear pale blue.
Protocol: Students follow a strict system of protocol concerning their behaviour towards their professors, standing when their headmistress enters the room and not sitting down before she does. They also seem to care more about their school's reputation.
Coat of arms: Two crossed golden wands on a powder-blue field, each omitting three stars.
Other information: In the book Beauxbatons is a co-ed (both male and female students) but in the film it is an all-girls school. Fleur Delacour is the Beauxbatons champion. In the film, Gabrielle Delacour (Fleur's younger sister) attends Beauxbatons whereas in the book, it isn't mentioned.
Building: It is called "The Palace of Beauxbatons". There aren't any suits of armour, there is a dining chamber which is decorated at Christmas time with ice sculptures that do not melt, there are choirs of wood nymphs who serenade the students while they eat.
Exams: After six years of study, exams are taken.
